Review: John Carter and the Battle of Who Could Care Less

Nearing the climax of John Carter, the new science fiction adventure based on the Edgar Rice Burroughs stories, our titular hero comes face to face with Matai Shang, the mysterious villain played by Mark Strong. "Why do you care?" Matai Shang asks about the martian civil war that John Carter has quite accidentally stumbled upon.

Review: The Fighter Afraid of Conflict

Halfway through The Fighter, the new film from director David O’Russell based on the life of boxer Micky Ward, the struggling fighter (Mark Wahlberg) finally manages to tell his overbearing family that they’re hurting his career. Or, at least his overbearing girlfriend tells them. And his new manager tells Micky’s mother that she’s no longer managing him. And his crack addicted-brother and trainer Dicky (Christian Bale) finds out he’s no longer training Micky when he shows up at the gym to find someone else in his spot.
